Grant Thornton International Ltd builds its global industry programme with three new appointments

LONDON: Grant Thornton International Ltd (GTIL) has appointed three senior leaders to run the network’s global industry programme: Matt Cooleen, (banking) and Amy Flynn (life sciences) both from Grant Thornton US, and Nick Watson (technology) from Grant Thornton UK. The global industry head is a non-client serving role, and each will concentrate on increasing cross-border collaboration between Grant Thornton member firms to develop key global client accounts. All three will focus on building a cohesive global community in their target industries with a view to driving growth, capability development and quality across the Grant Thornton network.

Grant Thornton’s Go Beyond network strategy 2025 is focused on growing and protecting international business. Over the next five years, GTIL expects international business will deliver a significant contribution to overall network growth. These three industry sectors have been identified as representing great opportunities for growth.

Matt Cooleen, a partner from Grant Thornton US, has been appointed to lead the banking industry sector globally. Matt has significant experience in the financial services industry having spent many years both within the industry as a senior executive then as a consultant advising the top five global banks and seven of the top 10 global mortgage industry players

Amy Flynn, the national life sciences leader for the US firm, will now also lead the life sciences industry sector globally. She has more than 25 years of pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic management and leadership experience across the spectrum of business functions from research and development, operations and quality to marketing and business development.

Nick Watson, a partner from Grant Thornton UK, takes responsibility for leading the technology industry sector globally. Nick is a specialist assurance partner with over 20 years’ experience supporting growing businesses as they scale their operations both within the UK and overseas. He was previously the head the technology, media and telecoms global steering group for the network.
