Grant Thornton strengthens Pacific presence

Grant Thornton International Ltd today announced that two former KPMG firms in New Caledonia and Tahiti (French Polynesia) will join its global network effective 1 October 2025.

The admission of the two firms further strengthens Grant Thornton’s capabilities in the important Pacific region, following the admission of the former PwC firm in Fiji in January this year (in partnership with Grant Thornton New Zealand).

Both firms have a track record of delivering quality services to their domestic mid-market clients and internationally and are leaders in auditing and consulting services in their respective markets.

The new Grant Thornton member firm in New Caledonia will continue to be led by its committed team of partners. The firm was founded in 1980 and comprises over 40 professionals, serving over 300 clients across the banking, energy, mining, industrial, and public sectors.

The new Grant Thornton member firm in Tahiti will be led by Jean-Louis Pelloux and is also a leader in assurance, tax, and advisory services in its market. The firm was established in 1992 and comprises over 50 professionals, focused on serving mid-market companies.

Peter Bodin, CEO of GTIL, commented: “The decision of these two firms to join the Grant Thornton network reflects the strength of our brand and our commitment to ensuring we have the right strategic capabilities where our largest member firms and clients need them. We welcome both firms into the Grant Thornton network and look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

“The admission of these two firms is of particular commercial importance to Grant Thornton France, who will work closely with both firms on how they go to market and will provide infrastructure support.”

As well as adding to the network’s capabilities across the Pacific, the new firms increase the network’s French-speaking member firms to over 20 across Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and the Pacific.

Thierry Granier and Jacques Le Maître, senior partners at Grant Thornton New Caledonia commented: “By joining the Grant Thornton network, we are better positioned to support New Caledonia at a key moment in its economic development. Our clients can rely on us to combine deep local insight with access to global resources, empowering them to navigate new challenges and opportunities.”

Chloé Duquesne and Manuel Nguyên, partners at the firm said: “Joining Grant Thornton reflects our ambition to continue growing while staying true to our core values. We share a vision that places people and close relationships at the centre of what we do. This journey opens exciting new opportunities for our clients and our teams.”

Jean-Louis Pelloux, partner at Grant Thornton Tahiti commented: “We are proud to be joining the Grant Thornton network. This step strengthens our ability to support clients in French Polynesia with international resources while staying true to our roots as a locally founded firm."

"Since 1992, our team of over 50 professionals has focused on high-quality audit, consulting, and accounting services. Now, with access to Grant Thornton’s global expertise, we can bring even greater value to mid-market companies here and across the Pacific—without losing the close, partner-led service our clients rely on.”
