Grant Thornton grows in the Dutch Caribbean

Grant Thornton today announces a significant expansion in the Dutch Caribbean, with the addition of offices in Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and St. Maarten, effective 1 August, providing coverage across the wider Dutch Caribbean, including Saba, Sint Eustatius and Surinam.

This adds considerable strength to Grant Thornton’s already solid presence in 13 locations across the Caribbean. The Dutch Caribbean is a strategically important market, with significant trade flows into the United States as well as strong business and cultural connections with the Netherlands, and, therefore, the world’s biggest consumer market in Europe. The former PwC firm becomes the largest Grant Thornton firm in the Caribbean.

Grant Thornton in the Dutch Caribbean will be led by Steve Vanenburg, supported by a further four partners and 160 staff across four offices. The firm has an excellent reputation and is market leader in the Dutch Caribbean, offering a full suite of services, ranging from tax and assurance to bookkeeping, payroll and advisory. It serves clients across a wide number of sectors, with a focus on travel, tourism & leisure and financial services.

Francesca Lagerberg, Global Leader – Network Capabilities, comments: “I am delighted to welcome such a high-quality firm into the Grant Thornton global network. There are significant growth opportunities in the region, and it is strategically important to have a strong presence in the Dutch Caribbean. With this new member firm, the Grant Thornton brand significantly strengthens its coverage in the Caribbean.”

Steve Vanenburg, the firm’s managing partner, comments, “We are excited to become a member of the Grant Thornton organisation, which provides the perfect platform from which to achieve our growth ambitions. We are leaders in our local markets, but we understand the importance of having a strong global brand to help us keep it that way. We are very enthusiastic about the opportunity this will provide our people, our clients and the organisation."

The senior leadership comprises:
Steve Vanenburg – Managing partner, Curaçao
Edsel Lopez – Partner, Aruba
Hans Ruiter – Partner, Aruba
Herbert Beldman – Partner, St. Maarten
Paul van Vliet – Partner, St. Maarten
